To get seeds out of Plump Helmets you can either brew booze from them or eat them raw. This can be really useful for processes that have multiple steps. My water sources just dried up, and I have yet to locate even an underground cave. Since theres a lot of new players here, I want people to know you can make work orders start once other work orders end. Pretty sure this fort is going to implode soon, anyway. That will be new territory for me never had a problem farming underground before. I'm currently relying on meats and plants gathered from outside for food, but I'm thinking I'm going to see if I can't build some sort of exterior garden/farming thing, since I seem to have buckets of above-ground seeds. They didn't even have any animals I could trade for. I was going to trade for a new batch of seeds with the most recent trader, but the human nation totally let me down. Buy plump helmets and other plants from traders to get seeds. Gathering in caves will return seed-bearing plants. I'm not sure where the ones I need are, but they evidently exist somewhere, excluding plump helmets and rock nuts.Ĭurrently, I'm on a cave wheat/pig tails rotation, with winter being used for fertilization. Turn the planting job on, and apply it to only a few dwarves. Most likely what's happening is a farmer sets his sights on a seed barrel to plant, the brewer at the still generates some seeds, a hauler. Haulers will now take an appropriate container with them to pick stuff up. There's a lot that can be brewed, but which either can't be eaten raw, can't be cooked, or both. Also, get to know your crops, and grow a wide variety of crops for all occasions. My seed stockpile is loaded with every seed type I don't use. Re: Keep running out of plump helmet spawn. Hunting and fishing will provide your dorfs with a lot of delicious meaty treats, so your dwarves will be less likely to eat their way through all your plump helmet. I've done all three of these now pretty sure it was my cooks being overenthusiastic that was causing the problem (I've since followed your advice).
